The peak of Velký Sošov (885 m a.s.l.) rises in the border area with Poland, in the Silesian Beskids, southeast of the village of Nýdek. On its northern slope lies a small mountain settlement, also called Velký Sošov, consisting mainly of cottages. On the eastern edge of the settlement, on the Polish side, there is a ski slope. At the top of the hill, there is a junction of the yellow and blue hiking trails. The blue trail leads from Velká Čantoryje (995 m a.s.l.) and continues along the border to the Gruníček saddle. The yellow trail ascends to the summit from the southern edge of the Hluchová settlement. From the top, there are beautiful views of the surrounding hills and the villages nestled in the valleys.
